Thanksgiving Fun

I've been thinking about Thanksgiving and how much we focus on being thankful at this time of year and tend to overlook it throughout the rest of the year. My goal for the remainder of this year and throughout 2013 is to never stop being thankful, especially for the little things. What a great example we'd set for our kiddos, if we always remembered to express our thankfulness. Enough of my thoughts, here are a few things we've got going on this week.

This first picture is my pride and joy :) This summer I revamped my yucky file cabinet (spray painted it blue and painted this one side with chalkboard paint). I am in love! Here are my students practicing their color words with word cards and colored chalk.

We're really working those color words. Here, my student is putting together some color word puzzles then writing the words. Click on the top picture to go to my TpT store to view this activity.

These kiddos are doing a Thanksgiving memory match. This game is a part of my Thanksgiving freebie on TpT. Click the pic to check it out!

Lovin the fall and I hope you are too!

Pumpkin Time

This week, we're focused on pumpkins. Pumpkin numbers, pumpkin colors, pumpkin patterns, pumpkin letters, pumpkin poems, pumpkin painting, pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins!! The kids are working so hard and what a good feeling to see the progress they are already making. Here are some of our activities for the week.

Sometimes October is one of the hardest months to get through, no days off and the holidays on the horizon. However, a little fun always makes the time go by faster. :)

Poetry journals

A new addition for me this year is the added section of 'poetry' into the back half of our math journal spirals. I am in love and have no idea how I survived without it before. We are able to have so many mini lessons and reader's theater opportunities each week. I have been picking and choosing our poems from this packet.

Each week, I have videotaped the groups presenting their poem to the class. What great practice for them, getting used to being in front of a group, working on body language and voice, among other things. The best part is going back and watching each group's video as a class, giving encouragement and advice along the way. How do you work poetry into your week?

The little things...

Another week done! I cannot believe we're almost through our first quarter. Once things pick up, the time sure flies. In my last post I mentioned I've started a store on Teachers Pay Teachers and today I am so excited to say that I've sold my first two products. To some this might seem so small and insignificant, but it sure puts a smile on my face. Click on the pictures below to see a couple other products I posted this week. It has been a blast getting ready for fall!

A New Journey

It's been ages since I've been on here but I'm hoping to start a new trend! I'm going to attempt to take this blog down the kindergarten road. I've been absolutely loving kindergarten and all the fun things that come with it. After spending the last year searching for wonderful ideas and resources for my classroom, I decided (with lots of nudging) I'm going to attempt the world of Teachers Pay Teachers, creating some of my own resources. On the right side of my page you'll see the link to my store. I'd love it if you'd check it out and consider following me. I hope to post some fun things in the coming months. :)

Here is a sample of my first little attempt and freebie. Click on the link to download it.
